Roman Croitor

Roman Croitor is a Doctor in Biology and Senior Scientific Researcher at the Institute of Zoology, State University of Moldova. His expertise includes the domains of taxonomy, paleozoology, and archaeozoology. Dr. Croitor’s research interests are focused on the taxonomy and systematics, paleoecology, evolution, and paleobiogeography of Plio-Pleistocene herbivores, as well as the ecological aspect of human-animal relationships. He is the author of over 120 scientific publications, including the monograph “Plio-Pleistocene deer of western Palearctic: taxonomy, systematics, phylogeny”, a series of works on the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of carnivore and herbivore guilds in Europe during the last 3 million years, and a series of publications on early hominins and associated ruminants paleobiogeography in western Eurasia during the Early Pleistocene.
